John and Tom,

I've been to County Roscommon in Ireland. I'm originally a Duignan, now a Dignan. The pronunciation in Ireland is closer to DEGnan than DIGnan, but not far off either and could be mistaken for both. DOO IG nan, however, might work to get people to spell correctly, but THAT pronunciation is a first for me.

DigMAN really drives me nuts though.
