I am the descendant of a Mary Duke(s) from Ohio b. 1825 and married Alexander Oskins in Spencer County, Indiana in 1849. I believe her father to be William Duke b. 1789 in PA.
I have a land grant for a William Duke from Warrick County, IN dated 1850 and it shows him in 1850 census in Warrick County IN with a Mary born in Va. that would be his wife, John age 21, Joshua age 19? and prudence age 17? his daughter (I assume) is listed in next household with husband Alexander Oskins. I am assuming William and Mary are the parents of Mary (Duke)Oskins. This may not be true.
Alexander died in the Civil War and she remaried to a David Buffkin in 1870 census.
I am looking for more information about Mary and William Duke. I see there is a lot of work that has been done on the Duke family and hope someone has more information on this part of the family.
