Looking for a DNA donor, known to descend from the family of William Duck and Margery___of the lower parish of IoWVA, believed to descend from a William Ducke, transported to Isle of Wight in 1639, by Justinian Cooper. A descendant of this line (John Duck) married Priscilla West. John died in IoW in 1736, and Priscilla moved to Halifax/Edgecombe Co., NC, where she is seen as Priscilla DUKE, DUCK, Widow DUCK, and seen with DUKES surname members on the same deed. The West family of IoW was also associated with the family of Thomas Crenshaw, (brother of Joseph, and John Crenshaw) and with the Newsom, Vasser, and Wooten families, as well. There was also a Robert DUCK, first seen in IoW, then in Edgecombe, NC in the 1739-1763 time frame. I now suspect that this Wm. DUCK line may be the one from which Robert Duke of Dry Creek, Lancaster Co., SC may descend, due to family associations, both in IoW and Lunenburg, VA, and NC. Also, the DNA of 2 descendants of Stephen Duke of Kershaw Co., SC, and one descendant of Jesse DUKE, son of afsd Robert, (although not a tight match at all) match neither the DNA of the lines from John DUKE of IoW, or John Taylor DUKE of Lunenburg Co., VA. Otis Fuller, descendant of Jesse Duke. Notify Administrator about this message?
