I'm just about as certain as I can be, that this is my ancestor, Robert Duke, who married Priscilla Crenshaw. I say that because of the fact that Benjamin Cook appears on one of the deeds. These Cooks and Dukes had a long relationship, going back earlier, to VA. The Cooks are also married into my 1st cousin's line(s), in Coosa Co., AL. The Dukes there were mostly from Jesse, s/o Robert, and from Stephen Duke, of Lancaster/Kershaw, SC.

Also, I have never totally bought the idea of there being two different Robert Duke's, as Tony says. There really is no absolute proof of it. We also have a Hester Duke in John M. Duke's (so Jesse) family, and Edmond/Edmund Dukes, as well. -Supposedly only found in the Robt. of Fairfield's family.

Additionally, I believe (no proof) that Robert's father was probably a John Duke, as there is this John on the Chester deed, and Jesse Duke named his first born son, John M. Duke.
