He married Martha Ann Staggs August 16, 1860 in Owen County, Indiana, daughter of Jeremiah Staggs and Sarah Kelshaw. She was born November 20, 1841 in Ohio, and died March 09, 1922 in Clay City, Clay County, Indiana.

       17v. Thomas Duling, born August 01, 1872 in Owen County, Indiana; died January 01, 1954 in Harlan, Audubon County, Iowa3. He married Minnie Mae Martindale January 20, 1897; born in Illinois; died December 30, 1944.

A Life Story of Thomas Duling

Thomas Duling, son of Elijah and Martha Duling, was born in Owen County, Indiana August 1, 1872, and died at the Bisgard Hospital, Harlan, Iowa, January 1, 1954 at the age of 81 years and 5 months.
While a young man Mr. Duling came to Auduban County, Iowa, as a farm laborer and January 20, 1897 he was married to Minnie Martindale. To this union one child, a daughter, Bessie, was born. Their entire married life was spent in Audubon and Shelby Counties, moving to the latter 20 years ago.
His wife preceeded him in death December 30, 1944. He was cared for in his declining years and last illness by his daughter and her family with who he lived on the home farm southwest of Redline.
Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. William Thygesen; two grandchildern, Max of Ft. Riley, Kansas; Peggy, at home. Two brothers, Eli, of Ft. Morgan, Colorado; William of Switz City, Indiana; one sister, Mrs. Ollie May Sheer, of Clay City, Indiana.

       5. Collin C.5 Duling (William4, Colin Campbell3, William2, William1) was born March 04, 1842 in Coshocton County, Ohio, and died July 13, 1904 in Almena, Norton County, Kansas. He married Sarah Matilda Kauffman June 01, 1867 in Owen County, Indiana. She was born June 24, 1849 in Cambridge, Wayne County, Indiana, and died February 08, 1923.

Notes for Collin C. Duling:
When Collin was four years of age his parents moved to Indiana where he grew to manhood. At the age of twenty he enlisted in the 97th Indiana Infantry of the Grand Army of the Republic. He was discharged on June 9, 1865 and returned home to Indiana. He married Miss Sarah Kauffman on June 1, 1867. In 1875 the opportunity to improve upon his life attracted him to the west. They spent four years in Nebraska and then moved to Long Island, Kansas where they homesteaded for fifteen years. In 1894 they moved on to Almena, Kansas where they had purchased an alfalfa farm. It was here that he spent the remainder of his days. He was remembered as a well known and highly respected man, a tender, considerate husband, and a kind, loving father.

       26iii.       William Alfred Duling, born January 20, 1875 in Indiana; died October 10, 1954 in Spokane City, Washington12. He married Eva Alice Sorric December 04, 1902; born May 10, 1876 in Almena, Norton County, Kansas; died April 17, 1946 in Spokane, Spokane County, Washington13.
       27iv.       Annie Isabel Duling, born July 19, 1877 in Nebraska; died December 21, 1964 in California. She married William Henry Harstine January 01, 1895; born May 27, 1864 in Indiana; died November 04, 1948 in California.

He married Lorinda Long February 02, 1874 in Owen County, Indiana, daughter of John Long and Malinda Criss. She was born March 23, 1851 in Indiana, and died October 06, 1924 in Seattle, King County, Washington.
