I recently found out the correct spelling of my ancestor. He spellrd his last name DeMund. Here is more info from a fellow genealogical searcher:

"Yes, I would say he was Army. He was born, 8 or 9 May 1896 Gaines, Genesee, MI.

I found two documents that state this, one is the WWI Draft Card on ancestry.com and the other is from a book called Honor Roll and Complete War History of Genesee County, MI, in the Great War 1914-1918. c1920 the Flint Daily Journal. Page 117 "Howard Jacob Demund, Gaines, MIch, Cpl., E. Co., 125th Inf., 32nd Div., A.E.F., Killed in Action, Romange, Oct. 9, 1918"

"You know that their father Harrison DeMund was married before he married Candis Landis. Her name was Sarah Young and she died leaving 4 kids."
