There's a proper Email on it's way sometime this weekend, it's huge, so I hope you can cope with it....

If not - potted version here.

John & Martha had 9 children, as I mentioned before. They came from a village called Rampisham, in mid/north Dorset. Previously, John had lived in a village called Toller Porcorum (sometimes called Swine or Great Toller - it means Toller of the pigs), where his father William had been a thatcher, the family occupation. In 1813, he and Martha married, moved to Abbotsbury and founded 'the dynasty'! Martha suffered from gestational epilepsy during her 9th pregnancy (at the age of 41) and spent the last 12 years of her life in the Forston Asylum, where she was considered 'disordered in her senses'. Forston Asylum went on to become the Herrison Hospital, a "mental institution" which was finally closed in the early 1980's. When it closed, they were still regularly using buildings Martha would have recognised.

I'd be very interested to see where the family ended up.
