I was just browsing through the messages as I'm thinking of tracing our family tree and was interested in your message. I have been informed by my father that our branch of the Dunford's came from Rutland and I've noticed that there doesn't seem to be many that originate from there. My dad's name is Colin and he was born in Clayton , Bradford, Yorks but apparently my grandad came from Rutland and his name was Harry. My great grandad moved the family from Rutland to Clayton to work on the railways (I think), his name I believe was Arthur and it is my understanding that he ended up living and working in Batley Carr in Yorkshire. I don't know if this will be any help to you or if you may be able to pass on any info my way.
Best wishes,
