Libby, I am aware that it has been some time since you posted this message on Gen-Forum, I thought just maybe you might have gotten more information since the message was posted in March of 2000.

I am also researching this same Dunford line. His son James Thomas Dunford b:1845 is my great grandfather. I had no idea who his parents were until I read your posting.
I have the 1860 U.S. Census of Coffee County, AL listing Thomas & Sarah and their children and it agrees with the information you have.

There was a family story that one of the Dunford grandfathers and his brother migrated to America from Ireland. I have no idea if this is a true story or not.

I would also be interested in any information you have on Sarah Moughon Dunford.

Thank you,
Margie Dunford Jones
