William, thanks for your reply, I am dissapointed but I still believe there is some connection to your Dunford family. I am thinking that the father of my James Thomas could have been a brother to your John b: 1800, the dates would be about right. Do you by chance have information on the siblings of John? The names James and Thomas were repeatedly used down through the generations, I know that in that time they used names of family members. There is also a story that was told in the family that two Dunford brothers came to this country from Ireland, so far I have not found anything to substantiate that.

I would appreciate any further information that might steer me in the right direction.
