William, I am still on the search for my Dunford ancestors. When we last corresponded in July, I believe that we established that your James Dunford the son of John Dunford b: 1800 in NC and my James Thomas Dunford b: 1846 in MS were not the same, as we each had offical records that proved this. All of this said, the more research I do the more I am convinced that there is a connection between the two families.I believe that my James Thomas's father is most likely a brother to your great great grandfather John Dunford.I was wondering if you might have run across any information that would list the siblings of John b: 1800 in NC, or possibly who his father was.
I have several reasons for believing so strongly in the connection, one is two of John's sons, John T. b:1839 in AL and Phillip P. b:1842 in MS, were both living in Montague County, Texas in 1870.My James Thomas and his bride Donnie Atkinson traveled from Grimes County, TX to Montague County, TX to be married on the 16 Dec 1870 at the Sunset Presbyterian Church there, even though their marriage license were from Grimes County. This leads me to believe that there must have been family ties there. Also my James T. was born in MS as were some of your John's children and his sons were near the same age as my James T..
I would be most grateful for any clues you might supply.
Margie
