Dear Margie, I will try to give you a look at my Dunford family. In the 1790 federal census for Edgecombe county, N.Carolina there are two Dunford heads of family. William Dunford and Phillip Dunford. For several years I thought they were brothers, but within the last year I have discovered they were father and son. William Dunford died in 1807. His will lists his children as: Phillip Dunford, John Dunford, Jesse Dunford, Daniel Dunford, Suzanna Dunford and Thomas Dunford.
Phillip Dunford died in 1821. His will shows his children to be: James (the executor) and John (my g-g grandfather)both of them inherited land. There was also a sister, Mary Sumrell who didn't inherit anything
John got married sometime around 1830. Soon after he married Mary they took off traveling. The first child, Absley Elizabeth was born in Ala. in1836.
