My husband is also called Chris and he is from Dewsbury, Yorkshire. Less than 20 miles from there is the village you are looking for: Dunford Bridge. If you ever watch the British comedies on PBS and catch "Last of the Summer Wine"; it is set in Holmfirth. If you get on the Dunford Road in Holmfirth and travel two or three miles southwest, you will find Dunford Bridge. It is named for the Bridge that went over Dunford...which unfortunately means nothing more romantic than something close to "dirty water". But who cares; we Dunfords are a proud bunch and as the old song says "we love that dirty water!"

Dunford has its own Parish clerk. I have stood on the top of the hill just as you drive down into the village and held tightly to my step-son as we took his picture under the Dunford Bridge sign....bit of a wind there!

My husband and I are about to move back there after Christmas, so I will be glad to help you find your Yorkshire roots if they are there.
