I have story about how our lineage and how the Dunford name came about that is both in writing and passed down by word of mouth.
The "Dunford's" started off in Scotland with the name of Dunn or Dun. There was conflict in the tribe and they split in two and had a war. My side of the Dunn's had last and was kicked out of Scotland to England. In England they were enforcing christianity on all citizens many of the Dunn clan did not want to join so they were made outlaws. There were 5 brothers in this part of the Dunn tribe while ecscaping the Gestapo they Forded a river in doing so they changed their name from Dunn to Dunford.
They then smuggled onto a ship to America 2 of the brothers died on this ship. When they landed 1 brother went up to Canada and another went south to Oklahoma/Texas area. the last brother died in a gun fight. So my family of Dunford's originate from the Dunford brother that went south.
If you have a similar story to mine or know of anything more about my lineage please e-mail me. Thankyou
