Our family has always pronounced it, "Dung un." As a member of the family via marriage, I prefer to pronounce it,"Dun gun." We get a lot of "Doo gan", "Duncan" and "Dunnigan". And believe it or not, the man who married my husband and I couldn't get it right at all and kept saying, "Dungeon" - as in the place where the king puts his prisoners. We got quite a chuckle out of that one.
