John, since I posted on genforum, I read the excerpt from "Search for Origins..." on J. Johnstone's page. T. Dungan makes it plain that his research didn't definitively answer any questions, just dispelled some old ones. It seems that he dispelled the myth that Thomas Dungan of Lincoln's Inn was the father of William Dungan. Also, his circumstantial evidence points more toward Richard Dungan as a possible father.

I notice on the internet that some "stories" die hard, as posters are still posting William Dungan's "Royal Lineage!" I don't understand why some can't accept their real heritage, rather than a bogus "royal" one. The royals weren't the creme de la creme of their time!
