Eunice Dungans/George White

Eunice Dungans was d/o Elisha and Hannah Borden Rogers Dungans. Eunice m. George White, 12 Feb 1795, Washington Co. VA. George White appears to be s/o Joseph White and Sarah Headley. He was born abt. 1765-1767--either in PA or Anson Co. NC. The 1820 Casey Co. KY census shows George would have been at least 55 yrs. old in 1820. George d. 17 Feb. 1824, Casey Co. KY (Will in hand). In 1820, no wife shows in census. At time of his death, widow was Jane. Children were George Washington, Andrew, Eson, Ely, Nathan, William, John, James, Catherine, Isabel, Nancy, Esther, Polly, Salley, and Patsey. One son would have been born before 1800 according to 1820 Casey Co. KY census. Two daughters were likely born aft. 1820--or step-children. George specifically states that he wants "MY" 8 children, George W., Andrew, John, Eson, Ely, William, Andrew, Nathan, and Patsey to have 1/4 of his estate. Male sons were to be bound to learn a trade or business. George then goes on to state he wants his children, James, Nancy, Catherine, Isabel, Salley, Esther, and Polly to have $1.00 each.

I believe several of these children to be children of Eunice Dungans and George White. Would anyone know when or where Eunice Dungans White died? George seems to have connection to Whites of Pulaski Co. KY with Thomas White and Tabitha Dye White. Many of these White lines married cousins---and blended from Washington Co. VA all the way to Perquimans Co. NC.

George Washington White was my 2nd gr-grandfather. He died in Crawford Co. IL, 18 APR 1895--and m. Sarah Meloni Turner there on 19 Aug 1851. In 1880 census, I have found BENJAMIN GRAFTON DUNGAN (S) and some other Dungans. They were born in IN--and can be tracked to JOHN ROBERT DUNGANS--and back to Elisha Dungan and Hannah Rogers Dungan. Grafton may be a variation of Crafton/Craften, as Nathan W. White m. Eliza Jane Craften in Spencer Co. KY in 1844. James Craften was in Casey-Mercer Co. KY--and believe Nathan was indentured to the Craften/Graften lines. Also, the Dungan line in 1880 Crawford Co. IL m. into the Raisford line with variation of that name being Rausford.

I am certain George was the s/o Joseph White and Sarah Headley as line of Headleys were in Crawford Co. IL in 1860 forward. Also, the parents of Joseph White Jr were Joseph Sr and/or Margaret Leeth, Elizabeth Leeth, and Averilla Harper. Joseph Jr. was first m. to Sarah Hutcheson/Hutchings. Joseph Sr. was brother to Carolus White--son of Old Moses White. Carolus and Margareta Van Cullen's line is in Crawford Co. IL with the line of Joseph White and Elizabeth Self. Their son, Jesse M (b. 1857), was living in Montgomery Twsp. Crawford Co. IL in 1870 with Simeon G (C) Cress and his wife Carrie Barringer Cress. Simeon was previously m. to Eliza Jane White (Montgomery Co. IL. She was Jesse's sister. Other Dungans appear in McDonough Co. IL
George White will of 1824 lists executors as Thomas Hutchings and William Minor (m. Polly Rains). Witnesses were Jacqueline Ambler Lewis, Jacob Johnson, and Thomas Thomas (Thoman ?). Appraisers were HENRY HARPER, Leonard Taylor, and William Cobb (Lobb ?).

George Washington White was indentured to Elijah Webster and Jane Rains Webster of Mercer Co. KY on 6 Sept 1824. I doubt that any of the children of George White saw a portion of their father's estate---which would be large for those times. Elijah Webster d. in 1826 in Mercer Co. KY. I believe that George Washington may have been sent to live with a Dungans family line or Owens, Rains, or another Webster line. Jane Rains was d/o James and Nancy Owens Rains. James and Nancy removed to Crawford Co. IL---and to Edgar Co. IL. Believe James and Nancy divorced.

I am in the process of obtaining documents on these families, but finding some are hard to find!! Many family trees have confusion over George White. One was son of Joseph White and Leeth--and b. in 1740. He m. Betsy Williams and d. in Perry, TN. Many trees have my George as being b. in Perry Co. TN--and dying there in 1830.

Thanks for any further info on Eunice Dungan and George White line. I gave as many names as possible to make some connections to Crawford Co. IL---and move into IL Northern counties.

Note: George Washington White had 3 children before he m. Sarah Meloni Turner in 1851. They were James, Nancy, and Isabel. 1860 Crawford Co. IL census (377 gif.) shows James and Nancy as being born in IND. Isabel was born 1 OCT 1847, Casey Co. KY---and not in 1849 as census shows.
George and Sarah Meloni had Jesse M (b. 1852), Christina, William Washington, Allice, and John. Isabel White was my gr-grandmother. She m. James Daniel Reynolds, and they both died in Wapella, DeWitt Co. IL. Looking for biological mother of James, Nancy, and Isabel. Also, Jesse M. White shows born in IL, but his marriage license in 1882 (with parents signing), that he was b. in IND.
