Pat,

Do you have a grave marker transcription for John Bell Dungan's grave at Valley Creek? I've seen some tree's list his death as 1863 which would fit with the Vicksburg Campaigns where the 20th Alabama Infantry (several companies organized in Perry County) fought from Dec 1862 until the end on July 4 1863. The 20th does have a listing for a J. B. Dungan. The 20th was captured there and J. B. was not listed on the prisoners list, so he would have died during the campaign, probably one of the earlier ones since he is not at the national cemetery there and you mention that his remains were returned to Alabama.

Steve
