DNA research

I have set up a DNA research group for the Dungate/Dengate name. It is my hypothesis that all those with this name stem from a single family originally living in the East Grinstead area. If you are stuck on your own branch you might find it rewarding to take the DNA route for further research. If my hypothesis is correct, all male descendants will have similar Y-chromosome markers, with only two or so differences in 43. The differences will enable us to trace the branch linkages. The DNA haplogroup revealed will also give useful information about likely origins many thousands of years ago.

Even if the hypothesis should be shown to be wrong, useful information shoud emerge about the distinct groups involved.

If you are interested in joining the group, please let me know. Please note that, unless you have the co-operation of a current male Dungate/Dengate in your branch, joining the group would be pointless at the moment.
