More on Harriet Nora Dunkelberger:
Her parents were Albert Henry and Amanda Isabella (Wetzel) Dunkelberger. Albert was born January 28, 1853 in PA. He married (1) Amanda Yoder, who was born September 2, 1854 and died in November 1880. The couple had two children. Albert married (2) Amanda Isabella Wetzel. She was born July 13, 1854 in Lower Mahanoy Townwhip, Northumberland County, PA and died November 25, 1925. Besides Harriet, Albert and Amanda had three other children: Susan Jane, Harry Edward, and Carrie Amanda. Albert is buried in Evangelical (Rutz) Church Cemetery. Amanda is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Treverton, Zerbe Township, PA.
According to published accounts, "Life was very hard for Amanda...Albert was a lumberman and worked for Zartman & Lohr Company...He was reported to be one of the strongest men in Cameron Township...Amanda's sister-in-law was an aunt to President Dwight D. Eisenhower."
My connection to this family is that my great grandfather, Aaron Wetzel, was Amanda Isabella Wetzel's sister. Aaron married Susan Eisenhower, the President aunt.
Virtually all of my information comes from email and regular mail communications with Dunkelberger family descedants. Some of it comes from excerpts from the book, Dunkelbergers in America, Copyright 1992, Reading, PA, Second Printing, April, 1993.
Hope this helps.
