My mother-in-law was Gertie Dunkelberger; her father was Franklin Leighton, son of Joel Dunkelberger & Harriet Amanda Slight. Joel died of typhoid in TN during the Civil War. He left 4 young children. Has anyone run across the names of the parents of Harriet Amanda Slight? She did not remarry until the children were all adults. Also would like to know how she managed the farm, and raised her children - Jackson twp., Starke Co., Indiana. Knowing who her parents were might shed some light on this history.
I have the pension records.
