Penny-Lynn,
My wife's father was Edgar Oliver Dunkley 1909-1989. He had several brothers and sisters, including one called Frank, but not your father !! This one was married, and has family, in Jamaica, also did not travel on ships. I am also trying to trace the Dunkley family, and have very little information, even on the one currently living!!
Edgars father was also an Edgar (married to a Jane Donaldson), and in turn his father being Edgar Theophilus Dunkley,(Wife Anne Beatrice Mason?) and his father William Theophilus Dunkley. Dates on these not known.
Presumably there is a common root with your father, at some stage in the past. Rumour has it that my wife's family is descended from one of three Scotish brothers, from Glasgow, who was a ship's captain in the 1750's and engaged in the slave trade between W.Afica and the States, calling at Jamaica. Good luck with your search
David Goodwin
