I am of Jamaican extraction, born the grand daughter of John Dunkley, one of the island's national artist. Being of African decent, little is known about the paternal lineage of my family. Though there exists a select group of clans with the Dunkley name in Jamaica, it is regarded to be unique and all the clans seem to know the same legend, that 2 or 3 Dunkley brothers sailed from England to the island circa unknown, though my guess is the 1800s, and several families were spawned from there. I'm sure you're familiar with colonial history. I would give much to know IF per chance you know of any Dunkleys in your family or another who ventured across the globe to seek some fortune?

Thank you
Tina M. Dunkley
