Info on J.H.Dunlap, M.D.
born Aug.6, 1845, in Hardy Co., W.Va.,became a resident in Jackson Co., W.Va. in 1866, entering upon the duties of his profession as a physician and surgeon in Cottageville, Union Dist., and the adjacent country, and commanding the esteem and confidence of the people whom he serves.In Union district, this County, June 20, 1872, Rev.B.A. Armstrong officiating clergyman, Dr. J.H.Dunlap and Arilla E. Wedge were joined in wedlock, and the children born of their marriage are: Rosa E., born 22,April, 1874,and Charles E., born July 11, 1879. The wife of Dr. Dunlap was born in Claysville, Wood Co. W.Va. March 22, 1855, and her parents, Ira and Catherine (Crawford) Wedge, became residents in Jackson county in 1856. Her father was born Aug. 29, 1824, and her mother born Dec. 7, 1835, died April 29, 1864. William M., father of Dr. Dunlap, was born Feb. 28, 1816, in Pa.,made the hom of his married life for many years in Hardy Co., after which he removed to Rockingham Co., W.Va. and came to Jackson Co. in March 1866, and here died Feb. 24, 1880. Dr. Dunlap's mother, who maiden name was Martha A. McDonnell, was born in Hardy Co. Va. (W.Va.)under the spurs of the Allegheny, Nov.16, 1812. She is now residing with her son.
