Anyone researching William McKinney b. 1795 in Ireland, resided in Belmont, OH and Adams, Illinois, who had son William McKinney m. Matilda Dunlap?

Susannah had married Samuel Hardesty who died 1814, leaving her with sons Richard and Samuel. She is seen in the 1820 Richland, Belmont, Ohio census with her two sons. There is a William McKinney, born before 1775, in that same census who is not the one who becomes her second husband, nor does he have any males of age to be the William who marries Susannah. I don't know what happens to this particular William after 1820. There are no other William McKinneys in Belmont in 1820 and I'm working under the assumption that the William who marries Susannah is the son of another McKinney in the 1820 Belmont census.

1825 Feb 17 this William McKinney marries Susannah Hardesty in Belmont, Ohio. I don't know where they are in 1830 and 1840 but in 1829 and 1833 they have at least two sons born in Ohio.

1850 finds them in Ursa, Adams, Illinois.

William 21 b. OH
Clark 17 b. OH
Mary A. HARDESTY 13 b. OH

Living with them is Mary Ann Hardesty who is Susannah's granddaughter, the daughter of her son Richard Hardesty and his wife Deborah Wilmont (deceased at some point before this).

I don't have any record of William McKinney or Susannah after 1850.

Son William W. McKinney married in 1852 in Adams Co., Illinois to a Matilda Dunlap. They had Isora, Charles and George and are seen in the 1860 Mendon, Adams, Illinois census, the 1870 Lincoln, Clark, Missouri census, and the 1880 Ryan, Sumner, Kansas census.

Son Clark W. married a Susan R. McClelland in Adams Co., Illinois in 1864. I don't find Clark in the 1860 census. In 1870 he is by himself in Lincoln, Clark, Missouri (where his brother's family also lives), then in 1880 has moved on to Spring, Butler, Kansas married to an Eliza A.

He is perhaps the same Clark W. McKinney as found below, who murdered William Reeder in Butler County KS in 1882:

"The case of the State versus McKinney, was tried in the supreme court of Kansas at the January term in 1884. The defendant, Clark W. McKinney had been found guilty of murder in the first degree, in the homicide of William H. Reeder, near Augusta, when the case was tried in the local district court. The opinion of the Supreme Court was written by David J. Brewer, the Justice of the Kansas Supreme Court, later one of America's greatest jurists, and a member of the United States Supreme Court. He affirmed the decision. McKinney was defended by A. L. Redden, T. O. Shinn, D. McKinney and J. D. Snoddy. The prosecution was handled by George Gardner and C. N. Sterry, of Emporia."
