I know that James Polk Dunlap was the son of Nelson and Mahala (McFarland) Dunlap. He was born 5 Mar 1845 in Gasconade COunty, Missouri and died 21 Jan 1929 and is buried in the Union Cemetery in Dwight, Nebraska. His children were Nelson Campbell(my g. g. grandfather), Agnes, Christina, Peter Campbell, Patience, and Lewis Campbell Dunlap. He was married to Christina (Campbell) Dunlap. I have heard that either he or Nelson are the inventors of the Dunlap strawberry. Do you know if this is true? I have also noticed that his sons and then his male descendants had the middle name of their mother's maiden name. Example: Nelson Campbell - Campbell being Christina's maiden name. Nelson's son (my g. grandfather), Charles Palmer Dunlap - Palmer being his mother's maiden name.
