I'm also a descendant of Braxton Dunleavy. The following info is documented in county & church records:
Braxton was a tobacco inspec, in Middlesex Co, VA still living there in 1807 when he was a juror. He m. Mary Hibble 12-22-1791, her father: John Hibble. His father was John Dunleavy b 2-15-1754 (d 10-19-1807) & m Elizabeth Healy 11-17-1768. John willed his estate (10-19-1807)to Eliz., Wm & Braxton Dunleavy; James, Eliz., & John Healy. James Dunleavy, John's father, d 12-26-1764. John's wife was Jane. (No infor on her family)
I can't help but wonder about some practices back in the 1700s, as Braxton & others were found deficient when the list of "crow scalps" was examined and were charged 3 pence for each crow scalp against their names; April court 1793!! Amazing!
I have 19 marriage records on this family from 1768 to 1849 in Middlesex County. If you need more data, let me know.
