A.J.(Augustine)Dunnigan was married to Nellie Mae Reagan, their son Reagan John(Ray)Dunnigan had the 2 little girls; my mother Dorothey Mae ( Mike, grand dad was convinced she was going to be a he)and Anna Rae. Mom graduated from State High in 1956; and married my dad Carrol Ray a basketball player also at State High in 1957. Dad was one of the Sugar-creek Ray's from Illinois. Our Ray family was one of the first families to arrive in the Territory of Illinois; they settled along the Edgar and Clark county line along what became the Old Paris road. Ray Dunnigan moved the family Drug store to West Terre Haute in the old Dodge Drug building in the 30's. My Grand-mother Mary(Combs)Dunnigan was the sister of Cecil Ward Combs founder of Ce-Mar Estates in North Terre Haute, and (Conard) Ben Combs the Contractor also of North Terre Haute. Grandma was later the Minister of the Terre Haute Spiritualist for many years; she had by that time married Orvil "Zip " Edmondson of Hymera/ Jasonville.Zip and Mary ran the News stand in the Terre Haute House for many years befriending Mr. Tony Hulman as a result. Granny told stories of meeting John Dillinger at the Drug store in West T; and of him playing Poker with Grandpa in the apartment upstairs when the Law claimed he was robbing a Bank in northern Indiana.
