Dear Dunson/Dunston family researchers:I have a copy of the Dunson Family In the South by Eleanor Gray Adams Dunson.IT IS ERRONEOUS when it gets to William and Charles Dunson of Jackson Co.,Ga.Mrs. Howard McCall a premier genealogist of Georgia had traced the family and indicated that William Dunson of N.C. was married to Mary Middleton and his sons Wm. & Charles came to JAckson Co.,Ga.Mrs. E.G.A.Dunson found a marriage of a William Dunson/Dunton way in land in N.C. and just stated as fact that this was a 2nd wife and put it in her book.It has come to light that this "so-called" 2nd wife was not the wife of the William of Currituck Co.,NC on the coast, for we have found deeds signed by William and his wife MARY after the date of the marriage further inland. We have ALSO found that this "alledged" 2nd wife AND her husband, William Dunton/Dunson were "free persons of colour" and a completely different pair of people.SO, please beware that the 1960 book "Dunson Family In The South" is WRONG.William Dunston/Dunson and wife Mary Middleton are parents of Charles and William of Jackson Co.,Ga.Will share more if want to,with anyone. , Sincerely, F.C.Johnson,III, County Historian, Troupa Co.,Ga.
