I found this thread about the Duracks of East Claire. While not a decendant of Daniel, I might be a relative.

Just before my father (Frank Benner) passed away in 1992 he wrote a geneology that included his mother's side.

Her name was Della Durack. She was born in Scariff in East Claire on 8/14/1878. Her father was Patrick Durack (d 1909)and her mother was Brigid Long Durack (d 1935). It seems that a large number of Longs and Duracks settled in the Detroit area - which is where Della met by grand-father (Clarence Benner).

Della was one of 15 children.

There is a mention of a brother, Tom Durack, who joined the Detroit Fire Department.

There is another mention that four of her brothers and three of her sisters settled in the Detroit ara.

Here are some names that are mentioned as relatives -

Catherine (married a Detroit Fireman named Joe Gleason),

I think that two sons returned to Ireland. Patrick remained in Scarif. I met one of Patrick's two daughters, Bri, when I visited Ireland in 1998. She lives in the house with her sister, Mary. I correspond with her at X-mas. Bri is very interested in the family history and is a wealth of knowledge about the Duracks and Longs in the states.

There is also a mention of a Cornelius ... who returned to Ireland.

The Duarck family farm overlooks Lough Derg, not far from Scarif. Scarif is a pleasant little town - away from the main roads...

Going there was a real highlight for me. My dad felt very close to his Irish roots - as do I.
