I just ran across your reply about Dan Durack and Hazel Callaghan. My father was Joseph Callaghan and was raised by Hazel's father ( John E. Callaghan, who I was named after) and her stepmother Marion Somes. John's brother was James Callaghan who was my father's biological father. His mother, Mary Jane Bennett died giving birth to him in 1915. He was the youngest of nine children and they are all gone now. I believe this makes us second cousins, once removed. I talked to Pat Durack of Oak Park on the phone sometime last year. According to my geneology notes he must be your brother. I was able to find him because he and his wife Anwar are licensed ham radio operators and I have had a ham radio license since 1958, W8JC.
My mother is still with us but my father died March 3,1999. He always refered to Hazel as his sister, but she was actually his cousin. I can remember visiting Dan and Hazel's home in Detroit in the 1950's but the only thing I seem to recall was that they had a family room in the basement. I believe Dan was a Captain on the Detroit Fire Department. Ironically I ran a business where we rebuilt and then sold used fire engines, and had several formally owned by the City of Detroit.
I believe your great grandmother would have been Terese Delehanty. I assume she is buried in Detroit. John and Marion are buried at St. John's Cemetary in Fenton along with my father.
If anyone in your family is interested we have a Callaghan reunion every year, usually at Dale Callaghan's in Brighton. Anyone is always welcome. It was August 11th so you just missed it. There's always next year.
