wes,

I hope you can help me. I am looking for the ancestors of my greatgrandmother, Sarah Amanda Durden Smith. All I know about her is that she was born 11/16/1850 mostly likely in Bibb (possibly Monroe) county Georgia. She went by the name Amanda, not Sarah, which makes me think she may have been named for someone still living when she was born. She married Elder James H. Smith, in Monroe county, He wa a Primitive Baptist Preacher, was in Candler county for a while but was at Ash Branch Church for 35 years, at the Bulloch-Bryan county line near Pembroke, Ga. She died 11/10/1939.

although greatgrandmother Amanda was from the Macon area, one of the Emanuel county Durdens, Margaret Durden Curl, told me when I was a child that we were related through the Durdens. Unfortunately, I didn't get any details. Mrs. Curl was from Twin City and I remember that her brother was in banking there. Mrs. Curl passed away several years ago.

do you have anyone in your line who could be greatgrandmother Amanda?

would appreciate any help.
