I'm fairly certain (not 100% yet, but getting close) that I'm also decended from Benjamin F. Durden (b. abt. 1793) and Elizabeth (b. abt. 1808). However, this means that Elizabeth had to bear another son when she was about 55.

This son was named John Milton Durden (b. 1863). According to his death certificate, his parents were Benjamin F. Durden and Elizabeth Durden.

Presuming these are the same Durdens in the 1850 and 1860 census, then my John Milton Durden would be a brother to the person you are seeking. BTW, the 1860 census does show an "Arastus" Durden - perhaps this is the person that you are seeking.

I'm trying to find a copy of the 1870 Census with the Durdens, but haven't spotted it online yet.
