According to my family history that was researched by my grandfather back in the 1930's, I am a direct decendant of 'Stephen Durden / Darden who came to America in 1640 around Nansemond, Isle of Wight, Virginia.

the linage goes John 1580, Stephen 1611, Jacob 1641,Jacob Jr. 1677, Captain John 1710, John Jr. 1734, Jacob 1755, William C. 1775, Eleazer 1809, John Whitney 1846, Charles Alonzo 1876, Estus Elemer 1909, Lawton Quincy 1936, me 1958.

I've checked everything in almost every way possible and as far as i can tell everthing rings true. we traced the family back with some gaps to Duerden of the Orchard 1066, Dearden Village near Edenfield, parish of Burke, County of Lancashire, England.

So what is involved in the DNA testing and what would i be required to do?
