Could Durfor be related to Dufore, Dufur? They [according to legend] came from France to The Netherlands, were pushed into Germany, back to Holland and then to NY bef 1650. The name changed so much from 1630-1722,Du Four; Duvoor; De Voe; Dufore; Dufoor; Devoer. I can see Durfor also being related centuries ago. Were your ancestors Huguenots' too? My family changed EVERY generation [and even mispelled the one they chose that generation]until they settled on Dufur on about 1741. We don't know where they came from in France, but they entered the colony and settled in NY before 1650. It would be fun if yours is a correct spelling which didn't come through my line!
