"SLAYTON - Funeral servies were Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the Nelson-Hustad Funeral Home for Charles R. Durgin, 85 year old Mason Township man who died Friday at the Slayton Hospital where he had been six days. The Rev Marvin Andros officiated. Burial was in the Medford Cemetery.

Mr. Durgin was born April 22, 1877 at Owatonna, the son of Elijah and Maggie Durgin. He and Gertrude Butler were married Dec. 29, 1928 at Minneapolis.

A commercial fisherman for 40 years, he came to Murray County 53 years ago, living in the same house on Lake Shetak all those years.

Only survivors are two nephews, Ralph, Slayton, and Floyd, Worthington. His wife preceded him in death in 1950. He was also preceded by his parents and two brothers." Printed in the Worthington Daily Globe, Worthington, MN March 1963.
