Re: DURHAM in VA & NC

My father did extensive research into the Durham family in the 1950s and 1960s. He shows both John Durham and Matthew Durham (brothers) to be the sons of Thomas Durham. Thomas Durham executed a deed for a lot of land on 20 Aug 1789 to build a meeting house "in which to hold Publick Meetings and for to give Thanksgiving in." He married someone named Lucy and his will which was signed on 22 May 1803 and probated in August 1803 in Orange County, NC This will named their children as:
Elizabeth
Lucy
Aaron
Thomas
Ezra
Rebecca
Illioc
John
Matthew

There is no other information on thomas Durham but it is believed he came over from England with two other men, Mark Durham and William Durham (brothers?) per information from ancestors living in NC in the 1950s.

Hope this helps.
