Ann, my father, Donald Durham, remembers "Uncle Oscar" who would have been my grandfather's half brother. I had seen some references that Oscar had done extensive research on the Durhams. In my own research, I've been able to trace the Durhams back to Charles Anderson Durham, Sr, but that's as far as I could go with a large degree of certainty. When I made a visit to Pickens County, SC, about five years ago, I was thrilled to find the graves of Charles Anderson Jr and Rebecca, but I could not find Charles Anderson Sr. That's when I started wondering if he was buried in the same place, but in an unmarked grave. Thanks in advance for any information you can share.
As a side note, in the early 1990's, my grandfather, Joseph Terrell Durham, was recognized by the Sons of the Confederacy as one of two remaining sons of Confederate soldiers in Georgia. He died in 1995.
