Mary Barnett and Durham CONFUSION

I'm a decendent of Charles Jr's son Archibald.

I was curious of your guy's thoughts on a Mary Barnett.

Mary Barnett is often recorded as a spouse to Charles Jr. in some genealogy's.

From what I've researched, Mary Barnett (b. 1812) was the 4th great granddaughter of Pocahontus. I have the full lineage recorded; but, a man by the name of Robert O Harder has wrote a beautiful piece on this controversial lineage:

Anyway, the Durham/Barnett connection was first brought to my attention after reviewing an old genealogical newsletter displaying Charles Newton Durham's family bible that I have provided a link to the newsletter at the very bottom of this post. **once you open the file, type Barnett in the search box, it'll take you right to the page you want - page 10.

Remember, Charles Newton was the son of Lorenzo Young Durham. Lorenzo was the son of Charles Jr. and obviously Rebecca Young. However, as you may note in the newsletter, Charles Newton writes about being a decendent of a Rev Charles Durham AND MARY BARNETT who migrated to SC from Chatham County, NC. Indicating that this Mary Barnett was a spouse to Charles Sr. and mother of Charles Jr.

If you scroll down further you can view Mary Barnett's petition to claim rights to her deceased father Elijah's land. She claims to have been deserted by her husband _______ Durham.

Did Charles Durham Sr have a wife Mary Barnett? Did he desert her? Or was she Charles Jr's Wife? What are you thoughts?
