Tennessee/Alabama Durham Brick Wall

I've been searching for these folks for over 10 years and still have very little on them.

James Mathew Durham was born about 1810 somewhere in TN. He m. Cynthia Lusk- possible daughter of Josiah Lusk. James is found in the 1840 Dekalb county, Alabama census but I can't find him anywhere after that. Cynthia and the family stays in Dekalb and she continues to have children who are named Durham. I have a list of all their descendants but I still can't find a marriage record although some of their daughters gave James as their father in an article published after they were grown. Cynthia did not declare herself a widow until 1880 and she died in 1887.

Thank you.
