Hi Edward. I noticed your posting, especially this line...
"In Bonded Passengers to America (Volumes I and II) 1615-1775 & 1617-1775, p. 84, (http://www.familycensus.com/immigration.php), a George Durham is listed as a bonded passenger to VA from Middlesex in 1721."
I find it interesting since I am looking at a possible ancestor named Robert Durham of Middlesex County, England who was found guilty of stealing 3 sheep around 1727 in Middlesex County, England, and "transported" to America in 1728 for his crime. This is also listed in the book "Bonned Passengers to America". Robert Durham came to America on the ship named "Patapsco" and was commanded by Darby Lux (captain).
This Robert Durham is possibly the father of my supposed ancestor Gregory Durham who married Elizabeth Shelton. Gregory Durham's birth record is found in Middlesex County, Virginia (Church Christ Parish). This record states his parents as "Robert Durham" and wife Elizabeth. Gregory Durham is later found in Henry County, Virginia and possibly died there or in Stokes County, North Carolina around 1814. His widow Elizabeth (Shelton) Durham is taxed in 1815 Stokes County, NC and found in the 1820 Census Stokes County, NC.
It would be interesting to see if this "George Durham" you mentioned might possibly be related to Robert Durham. The years are not that far apart.
Byron K. Durham
