Benjamin Franklin (Frank)was the younger brother of my grandfather, George Washington Durling. Frank was born May 31, 1865 in Posey Co., Indiana, a short time after his own father, also named Benjamin Franklin, died from illness during his service with the Union Army. Frank's mother, Sarah Delany, remarried (James Alexander Johnson), and they lived in White Co., Illinois. James was apparently abusive, and my grandfather took his mother, Sarah, and his younger brother, Frank, to live with him (my grandfather was still single).
Frank's grandparents were David and Hannah (Saltzman) Durlin, who married and lived the remainder of their lives in Posey Co., although both were born in Pennsylvania.
I would very much like to correspond with you to share information, for I know very little about your branch of the family. As you may know, Frank disappeared after he and his wife had three children. Stories have been handed down in our branch of the family that he may have met foul play, but for all I know he may have abandoned his wife and three small children. I am aware that his wife remarried, but I know little else about the family.
My email address is email@example.com I look forward to hearing from you.
Ed Broadus (my mother was a Ruth Durling)
