My Father's family changed their name from Durling to Whitehead about 1850 - still don't know why. They lived at Quarrington House Chatham from 1841 - 1871. My gggfather was Thomas -don't yet know if he was baptised Whitehead or Durling or even Whitehead-Durling - b.1816 in Gillingham and my gggmother Elizabeth Parnell b.1821.

We have entries for lots of other Durlings but can't make a link with the name change. Any info would help.

Lynn Hill
