When Patrick originally arrived in the U.S. in July of 1855 through the port
of Boston. He went first to the Dover area, where he met his wife, Sarah
Morgan. They were most likely both working in the textile mill at the time.
They married on April 20, 1857. The were in Lewiston, ME, by the 1860
census was taken.
I suspect Annie was sent over later. She does appear in the 1870 census for
Patrick Durnin 40
James 17 days
Peter Henry 5
Charles P. 2
This is from my gr aunt's notes. I need to get a copy of the actual census
to see addresses, etc. Annie was probably a niece.
Patrick was back in Dover by 1875 according to his naturalization paperwork,
issued in NH. There is some connection with the Devine family of Maine. We
don't know in what way.
