Hi Anne

The early Durrett's liked the name Richard and you will find that their are Richard used over and over again. There are very few children named Bartholomew that I have found. LOL

Richard Durrett that married Sarah Hampton lived in Albemarle County, Virginia, Col Richard Durrett is buried at Wakefield Plantation along with his son Richard Durrett Jr and his wife Elizabeth Davis. a Wakefield plantation was kept in the family until its sale in the 1970s. Richard Durrett who married Elizabeth Davis built the Wakefield plantation was keep in the family unitl the 1970s and the house that Richard Durrett built that still stands today.

The will you found is the will of Richard Durrett that married Sarah Marshall. It is believed that this Richard is the son of Paul Parrin Durrett. It is not proven who Paul Parrin's his father was.

A group of us have started a research group on the early Durrett's and have found the names of Francis, William and Paul Parrin Durrett who all arrived around the same time as Bartholomew, Richard and John in the 1600s to early 1700s.

We are trying to learn how all the early Durrett's are related. We have learned through DNA testing that Bartholomew and Francis lines are related but it is to early in our DNA project to know just how they are related. We need more Durrett male's to do a DNA test.

You can go to our website and to see what lines have been tested so far. Come back often. Are testing is done by Family Tree DNA.

Go to http://www.familytreedna.com/public/durrett/

Go to https://www.worldfamilies.com/surnames/d/durrett/results.html

While here post your Durrett line or contact someone who is connected to your line who has posted

I also have a website I have posted the Durrett lines that have been found so far. See if you connect to any of them. I also have allied families that connect, too.

To see if your Durrett line is in my family tree. Please contact me.

If you want more information about our DNA project please email me and I will be happy to answer any of your questions. I am the administrator of the Durrett DNA project.

Thank you.
