I likely don't have the answers you seek - as I am also in search of information.I believe that Sarah Antoinette Durrett, daughter of Paul Parrain Durrett and wife Antonia - may have married my George Roberts in Virginia.
"ALL" my early Roberts records have witnesses who have some family "tie".On one Will - there is a William Durrett, Mary Durrett (later married to Gabriel Richards) and Gabriel Richards. So if all holds true with this Will - either the Durrett's or Richards' or both have some sort of tie to George Roberts of this Will. His wife or wives were deceased when he wrote it - and records are scarce on even his kids marriages, but because of other witnesses and executors of Wills - there would have to be a family connection.
I can find info on all other children attributed to Paul Parrain Durrett - but nothing on Sarah Antionette - and she would be the right age, right place to have married my George Roberts. She may have been the mother of only the two eldest children, John and Mary, as they are dealt with differently in the Will. Then the next child is Sarah - and it was NOT uncommon to name a first female child of a second marriage after a deceased first wife - so even this follows. If this is true - she would have died young - possibly in child birth with the 2nd child, so died you and may be why I cannot find anything at all on her in Durrett family information.
You asked about Paul and Francis.Paul "may" not have been well liked.I have a line where the father has an unusual name - and he was a known womanizer.None of his children bear his name, nor do any grandchildren or great grandchildren.(one possible explaination of why the name Paul was not carried down in the family - that for whatever reason, he was not well liked)
Here is the only piece of "evidence" that might be helpful in trying to obtain more info:
In publications of the Huguenot Society of London is found the name of Francis Parrain de Durett, son of Paul Parrain de Durett by Antonia, his wife, born at Bourges in Berry, France.
He took the oath of naturalization on 25 Feb. 1702/3.
This could be Francis Durrett of the 1724 land patent in Virginia
It may be possible that the Huguenot Society of London has MORE info on the Durrett's or de Durett.Their records can be quite good - as I have found on another line of mine who were French Huguenots. Many of my other Huguenot families reference a Threadneedle Street in London. So it might be worth investigating The French Church of London, earlier called Old French Church, Walloon Church of London on Threadneedle Street.
This is the family group that I am seeking information on:
Paul Parrain De Durrett
· Sex: M
· Born: in Bourges, Berry, ____, France
· Died: UNKNOWN
· Burial: in See "Virginia Genealogist, " v.15, p. 3-91
Family 1: Antonia [--?--]
1. Richard Durrett
2. Sarah Antoinette Durrett
3. Bartholomew Durrett, b. 1716
4. Francis Parrain Durrett, b. BEF 7 JUL 1724
5. John Durrett, b. 1773
The above Bartholomew Durrett is the father of William Durrett who is named as an Executor and Mary Durrett, and Gabriel Richards were both witnesses. (As mentioned earlier, Mary later married Gabriel Richards) So I suspect that William and Mary Durrett are involved with George Roberts Will, in looking out for the interests of what would be their Aunt's children (likely 2 - John and Mary).
If anyone has info on this family group, I would love to hear from you!
Beverly
