Durrett/William-Mayo Family

I am in possession of four letters dated 1850, 1851, 1852, and 1853 respectively. The first is addressed to an unnamed "son" and signed "Braxton B. & Ann E. Durrett." The second through fourth letters are addressed to "Braxton Byrd Durrett" from three different writers identified as "Mary E. Durrett" (1851), "Nancy H. Mayo" (1852) and "L.E. & J.J. Durrett" (1853). The well-penned letters describe details of family life including the cause of death of Braxton's mother and various other family members, costs associated with various business transactions and community events. These letters came to me through Edna (Mayo) Hixon (d.o.b. 1900; d.o.d 1935). My father was "adopted" by Edna and her husband E.W. Hixon in approximately 1928. As family lore would have it, my father was possibly related to the Durrett/Williams-Mayo family. Any information about Edna Mayo and or/my paternal history would be greatly appreciated.
