Dear All!       

We are seeking emigrants (immigrants) from Sterkelshausen, Hessen (= Hesse ), district Rotenburg in the former Landgrafschaft Hessen - Cassel / Kurhessen (= Hesse Cassel ).

In July 2003 the village Sterkelshausen will celebrate its 1000 year anniversary and we like to meet some of our lost citizens.

Today the proper name of the village is Sterkelshausen, Gemeinde Alheim (= administrative community), Landkreis Hersfeld - Rotenburg (= administrative district)in Hessen.

Until now we know the following names of our emigrants:

Durst, Justus, April / May 1845, 47 y., Brantweinbrenner (= distiller), and daughter 20 y., son 14 y., daughter 11 y., to north America

Pfetzing (Pfetzing #2), Jakob, May 1841, 39 y., Ackermann (= farmer) and child 13 y., child 10 y., to north America

Schlein, Anna Elisabeth, March 1846, ? y., widow of Johann Schlein, Hermann 19 y., Paul 17 y., Georg 13 y., Gertrud 10 y., to north America

Pistor, Arnold Wilhelm, March 1851 or later, born January 1. 1831 (son of Daniel Pistor the forest overseer ), to north America

Pfetzing, Philipp, April 1852 or later, born November 26. 1832, son of the day laborer Justus Pfetzing, to north America

Pfetzing, Cornelius, June 1852, born February 12. 1833, son of the farmer Conrad Pfetzing (Pfetzing #3) and Friederike witch was born as a Sinning in Ersrode), to north America

Bickel, Ferdinand Daniel, February 1853, born January 7. 1836, son of the teacher Valentin Bickel and his wife Catharina Elisabeth born as a Schade in Sterkelshausen, to north America

Ulm, Friedrich, February 1854 (after trying illegal exit was first arrested in Karlshafen, then surety by his uncle Friedrich Ulm also from Sterkelshausen was given), 29 y., gardener, to north America

Müller, Wilhelm, 1854 (born in Sippershausen, married since January 27. 1842 with Dorothea Elisabeth), he was a member of the community counsel, with his wife Dorothea Elisabeth born October 31. 1818 as an Ulm in Sterkelshausen and son Johann George born December 12. 1842, daughter Anna Elisabeth born April 3. 1846, daughter Catharina Elisabeth born July 16. 1848, daughter Anna Martha born April 28. 1851, son Johann Heinrich born June 30. 1853

Pfetzing, Georg, July 1856, born March 10. 1837, (son of Conrad Pfetzing (Pfetzing #3) and his widow Friederike born as a Sinning), awaited by his brother Cornelius in north America

Spenner, Wilhelm, in 1860, 30 y., and his wife (n.n.), to north america

Müller, Hartmann, June 1856, born August 31. 1828, Ackermann (= farmer ) with his wife Catharina Elisabeth, born as a Pistor and son Daniel Wilhelm born February 05. 1852 and son Heinrich Valentin born July 10. 1853 and son Friedrich Arnold born February 01. 1855 to north America
