As just noted in another thread on this Message Board,
For the sake of all genealogical message boards, may I register here that a lack of response defeats the very purpose of the boards?
Most times, a simple and courteous thanks suffices....
In an earlier exchange on this board, important and significant information to the benefit of the querist was posted in response.
This query was posted by an agent of a tax-paid public museum. The lack of response led me to contact this person and her bosses directly. That person actually said to me that her reading of message boards led her to believe that neither acknowledgements nor thanks were required!
I was not raised this way and bet that most others were not as well. What can it be about our newly shared electrons that throws our common courtesies out the window?
If someone takes their time to try and help, please acknowledge that offer.
