Dear Carl (if I may),
I am not being entirely fair with my response to your question as I think I know more than I am sharing with you and the other readers of this Forum.I'd like to be less obtuse but have spent considerable time and learning figuring out how exactly your wife's line came to life and have always intended to publish this studied determination.
My tracks can be retraced through proper genealogic study and it is clear that you are on that path.
But, I fear from your statements that --to use my words for your's-- you have gathered a good deal of information on the descendants of Joost^1 and Magdalena LeFevre^1 from the Internet. And without stating just exactly where and from whom you have this information. Other researchers and me need to have this to fully respond.
The "regular" Internet renditions on this family are rife with mistakes, bad information and incomplete or mis-directing sources. Else I will not have spent these 20+ years studying what will have already been a "decided" descendancy, nor even a clear pre-American ancestry.
For instance, Joost and Magdalena were not French and not French Hugenots. They were Flemish and Protestants. Not quite the same thing.
Anyway, we have discussed the son of Joost^1 and Magdalena^1 named Charles^2. Elsewhere within this forum, I have noted that I am a descendant of Joost^2, Abraham^2 and Jacob^2. I am no more related to the "car guys" than your wife.
Proof is hard to come by, and I would ask that you contact me privately should you be willing to discuss this further in complete confidence.
Like you, I would like to be able to better understand and include your wife's Duryea ancestry in the completed presentation.
Hoping to hear from you still more,
Richard
